Is this an insurance plan?
No — The CHAMP Plan™ is not insurance. It’s a pre-tax deduction advantage supplemental health and wellness program offered through a Section 125 IRC Cafeteria Plan. That means it works alongside your existing insurance, providing additional preventive care, wellness services, and everyday health access — all at zero out-of-pocket cost to members or the union. It complements, rather than replaces, traditional insurance coverage.
How is it zero-cost?
The program is completely funded through pre-tax payroll savings allowed under IRS Section 125 IRC Cafeteria Plan. When members enroll, a small portion of their pay is redirected before taxes to cover the CHAMP Plan’s wellness benefits. Because this lowers taxable income, both employees and employers save on FICA and payroll taxes — enough to fund the program in full. The result is a powerful win-win: enhanced member benefits with no additional cost to the union, its members, or participating employers.
Do I have to change insurance?

What about members who already have major medical?
Members can absolutely keep their existing major medical coverage. The CHAMP Plan™ is a preventive overlay, designed to enhance current healthcare — not interfere with it. It provides access to services that traditional insurance often doesn’t cover fully, such as unlimited primary-care visits, mental-health support, and telehealth for families and even pets. By adding the CHAMP Plan, members enjoy greater access to care, fewer out-of-pocket expenses, and overall better health outcomes — without making any changes to their current insurance.
Do employees need to change providers or medical care?
No. Employees who enroll in The CHAMP Plan™ can continue to use the same providers and receive the same medical care they’re already receiving through their traditional medical insurance. The CHAMP Plan™ can provide additional options for better quality care and cost savings as identified by the physician of record, but employees are not required to take those options.
How do I implement this plan to my employees?
It’s simple! Once you send us a copy of the census, we can begin to identify your potential savings per employee.
What prescriptions are covered?
A robust list of nearly 200 generic and brand name prescriptions is covered by The CHAMP Plan™, including many of the nation’s top-prescribed drugs such as simvastatin and atorvastatin for high cholesterol, amlodipine and lisinopril for high blood pressure, levothyroxine for hypothyroidism, and bupropion for tobacco cessation, as well as antibiotics like azithromycin and amoxicillin, pain management medications like gabapentin and meloxicam, and mental health medications like lorazepam and clonazepam (see formulary list for full details). Prescriptions not on the list may also be covered at a significant discount.
